Brand: Carl Hansen & Son
Model: CH36 Chair
Designed by Hans J. Wegner in 1950
The CH36 dining chair by Hans J. Wegner is crafted with great attention to each detail in a simple and functional design. This 1962 design demonstrates the influence American Shaker furniture principles and craftsmanship had on Wegner’s work. The legs of the CH36 taper off slightly both towards the floor and, in the case of the rear legs, also towards the top, creating an elegant appearance. The backrest is significantly more curved at the top than at the bottom to optimize back support. The overall expression is completed with the frame and the seat hand-woven in the durable paper cord. The chair is also available with armrests - model number CH37 - for added comfort and support.

He is probably best known for his iconic Wishbone Chair which has been in continuous production since 1950. The core of Wegner’s legacy is his focus on showing the inner soul of furniture pieces through a simple and functional exterior.
