This chair was designed as early as 1885. Its distinct feature is the plywood fan filling the backrest. The upholstered version can be upgraded with decorative studs framing the seat and the top of the backrest.

Michael Thonet (1796-1871), born in Germany, was a designer specialising in ‘bentwood'. Thonet and his sons set up a bentwood furniture factory in Bystřice pod Hostýnem in 1861.  In 1876, Chair No. 18 - one of the first models which was produced here and is still a part of our portfolio today.
